常常會用英文縮寫「ex.」代替 For example 對吧！但是你知道這個縮寫其
實是錯的嗎？
常犯的英文縮寫錯誤 1：〝例如〞正確用法：「e.g.」！→記得打兩個點
大家可能會把例如寫成 ex、ex.、e.x.、eg、eg.、e.g.，以上 6 種寫法只有「e.g.」是對的！
「e.g.」是拉丁文 exempli gratia 的縮寫，意思是舉例來說、例如、譬如、比如，英文也就是 for
example 或 for instance。
然而「ex.」這個縮寫作為名詞的話，代表的是〝Example〞(範例)或是〝Exercise〞(練習)，所
以別再把例如寫成 ex.囉！
常犯的英文縮寫錯誤 2：〝…等等〞正確用法：「etc.」！→記得打點
「etc.」是 etcetera 或 et cetera 的縮寫，意思是...等等，意思相當於英文的 and so on 或 and so
forth。
特別要注意的是「e.g.」和「etc.」不能出現在同一句話，因為例如與等等的意思重複，選其中一個
就可以囉！例句：
I know some great teachers (e.g., Amy, Barbara, Cindy).→ (O)
I know some great teachers (e.g., Amy, Barbara, Cindy, etc.) →(X)

常犯的英文縮寫錯誤 3：〝換句話說〞正確用法：「i.e.」！→記得打兩個點
「i.e.」是拉丁文 id est 的縮寫，意思是換句話說、換言之，用來進一步解釋前面說過的話，英文就
是 that is、in other words。
例句：
It happened in October, i.e., two months ago. →(O)
（i.e. = in other words）
It happened in October, e.g., two months ago. →(X)
（e.g. = for example）
